Extension:

 

In June of 2018, Act 198 (SB 776) was introduced by Senator Robert Tomlinson(R) Bucks County  was signed into law.  This legislation extended the pilot for 2 additional years.  Again, the same parents worked for the passage.

 

 Only 5 of the original 8 districts continued in extension.

Because of changes in the Pennsylvania Department of Education leadership the pilot extension was postponed for a year and begin in September 2019.

 
Pennsylvania Dyslexia Screening and Early Literacy Intervention Pilot Program

Expansion:

 

In the fall of 2019, along with the start of the pilot extension (5 districts) Pennsylvania Department Education announced they were accepting application for 15 new school districts to the pilot program.  However due to the overwhelmed response the PDE announced in November of 2019 they would be adding 33 additional districts with 3 different tiers of support.  Some with training and funds other with just training and not additional funding.
